SBBCollege Students Investigate Crime Scene

Students in SBBCollege’s Criminal Justice degree program recently participated in a hands-on training lab where they investigated a mock crime scene, preparing them for real-life scenarios in their criminal justice careers, such as forensics or crime scene investigations.

Students were instructed to investigate the scene, and determine what happened and who possible suspects were. Students utilized photographs, fingerprinting and other investigative procedures to process the evidence taken from the scene.

Whenever possible, SBBCollege uses hands-on training in addition to traditional classroom lectures. This crime scene lab aided in putting theories taught in classes, such as crime scene investigation, criminology and criminal investigation, to practice.

The criminal justice training program at SBBCollege provides students a solid understanding of the US criminal justice system, including social and behavioral science, with emphasis on investigation, law enforcement, corrections, the criminal court system, juvenile justice and private security.

For more information on receiving training in criminal justice at SBBCollege’s Ventura, Rancho Mirage, Santa Maria, Bakersfield or Online campuses, please call 866-610-SBBC.

From Sailor to Student: A Veteran’s Story at SBBCollege

Are you trying to find your place in the civilian sector? With high unemployment rates for veterans, it can be difficult to find success after returning from active duty. With help from family, friends and veterans-service providers, veterans can get back on their feet and begin a new chapter in their life.

Melissa S. was one such veteran who needed help finding her career after returning from the US Navy. She found the aid she needed with the help of Santa Barbara Business College, the Post-9/11 GI Bill, and the Yellow Ribbon Program.

“Before I was a student, I was a sailor. I served 4 years in the US Navy. When I got out of the Navy, I kicked around a few jobs but I knew in my heart I didn’t want a job, I wanted a career.

A friend of mine recommended Santa Barbara Business College because it was the school she was going to. I didn’t think I could afford it, but I went for an admissions interview anyways. The staff was so friendly and helpful. Between admissions and the financial aid staff, they helped me realize I could afford it. In fact, not only was my tuition paid in full, I received extra money for housing, books and supplies!

The bonus was the Yellow Ribbon Program. With this program, I received money back in a check for my own personal use because my tuition was already paid for.

Overall, I am doing so well at Santa Barbara Business College. The staff made my transition from sailor to student so easy. I am even considering furthering my college education with SBBC’s bachelor’s program. What makes this even easier, I still have money in the Post-9/11 GI Bill to do so.

Thank you SBBC for giving me the opportunity to better myself. When I am through, I can land the career of my choice.”

SBBCollege is proud to serve the veterans in our communities, and will help them receive the veteran career training they need to find a successful career.

Through participation in the Yellow Ribbon Program, eligible veterans can attend SBBCollege at no cost!

For more information on how you can use your military benefits and start at a Post-9/11 GI Bill school, please call 1-866-610-SBBC.
