SBBC Students Volunteer at Health Fair Screening

Medical students of Santa Barbara Business College’s Santa Barbara campus participated in a health fair screening last Friday, September 16th at the Franklin Neighborhood Center in Santa Barbara, Ca. Earning their associate’s degree or career training diploma in the field of medical assisting, these students were happy to put their medical training to use to help their community.

The health fair was organized by the Santa Barbara Unified School District’s State preschool program and the Santa Barbara County Education Office’s Health Linkages Program, with the goal of fighting health disease in young children. Many children in the area have experienced rates of obesity and poor oral health that are higher than recommended.

Along with other healthcare professionals, students in the College’s medical assisting program volunteered their time to provide medical assistance to their community at the fair, which included vision, hearing and height and weight/BMI screenings for nearly 530 children and their parents. The community was also given dental screenings.

With local campuses in Ventura and Santa Barbara, SBBCollege has a long history of working with the local community and is happy to volunteer their services to help make its community a healthier place.

Founded in 1888, Santa Barbara Business College offers medical training in the medical assisting and medical office fields at their campuses in Santa Barbara, Ventura, Santa Maria, Bakersfield and Rancho Mirage.
