Santa Barbara Business College’s Criminal Justice program provides its students a fundamental understanding of the U.S.’ criminal justice system, with topics including criminology, criminal law, criminal investigation, introduction to police officers, introduction to security, introduction to corrections, etc.Students can get their bachelor’s degree in criminal justice in a little over three years.

The CJ program at SBBCollege includes an externship component in the final term, where students receive on-the-job training out in the field. It gives students the opportunity to use what they’ve learned in the classroom and apply it in real-world situations. Students also get a taste of the career they may have after graduation.

Tracie, an SBBCollege graduate, loved her externship site at a private investigator’s office. It also proved to her that she was in the right career field for her.

As part of my externship, I worked as an investigator for an investigator’s office…I actually went out on sites and interviewed people for investigations. Graduates of the program are prepared for entry-level positions in private security, loss prevention, corrections, probation and other comparable criminal justice careers.
